3 Closet Staples to Wear From Fall to Winter

Even though the recent Seattle weather has been making it nearly impossible to get out of bed every morning, I'm happy to say that today marks the first official day of winter! To celebrate the occassion, I'm sharing three pieces from my closet that are perfect for those breezy fall days all the way through the dark, cold months we call winter.

I walked around Pioneer Square with the talented Caitlyn Nikula Photography to capture this cozy look and we were lucky enough to capture a bit of Seattle sunshine. Now let's dive into the pieces!

1. Dark Jeans

A few weeks ago I was invited to visit the JAG Jean headquarters here in Seattle, Washington. Beyond seeing their one-of-a-kind space, I had the chance to discuss denim trends with their designers and leave with a few pairs of my own! The Portia Straight in black are a new addition from JAG's fall line and they're a reliable jean to wear through the seasons. Everyone knows that black is slimming, so why not enjoy that luxury with versatile dark denim?

2. Plaid

While dark jeans are essential, no Pacific Northwesterner can deny the power of plaid. Once popular with Nirvana and Soundgarden fans, plaid has become a badge of honor for Seattleites of all ages. I tucked the Magnolia Tunic (also from my friends at JAG) into my black jeans for a more fitted look, however, it could easily be worn with a pair of leggings and booties. With it's long lenght and high slit, this top is a light and feminie take on the classic PNW plaid.

3. A Long Cardigan

As I mentioned before, Seattle's chilly weather has me bundled up nearly 24/7. Thankfully, I picked up the Coraline Cardigan from Moorea Seal a few weeks ago and have been enjoying its warm wool-blend ever since. It's so long that this oversized cardigan touches the back of my knees, making it great for those lazy legging days or for the nights when you want to dress-down something a little more formal, like the velvet Abbot dress I wore in my last post.

This fall, I found myself coming back to these three pieces over and over and I don't see that changing anytime soon. Now that you've seen my staples, I'm curious, what items from your closet are essential to your fall/winter style?
